Monte Cazazza - The Cynic (2010)

One of the most important figures in the first industrial wave of the late 70s, even coining Industrial Records' slogan "industrial music for industrial people", Monte Cazazza has been mostly unheard of ever since The Worst of Monte Cazazza was released in the early 90s. He released a single in 1995 called Kill Yur Self, but apart from that he seemed to have abandoned making music entirely, until this summer.

The Cynic is, as far as I know, his first proper album ever, and contains a pretty wide variety of styles and sounds. From the droning soundscapes of the opening track, through several kind of mystic-sounding synthpop tracks with an industrial touch, onto a really unsettling tale about a dead body backed by a guitar loop.

Even though styles shift throughout the record, Monte Cazazza manages to keep his own very unique feel and undertones on every single track, and it really feels coherent, at least after a few listens.
